Brescia - School at the heart of the future

The strategy is divided into two levels of action. On the one hand, it aims to upgrade the educational provision for younger age groups (in terms of energy saving, safety, accessibility, training and social inclusion). On the other hand, through the “Bandiera” project, a new integrated school complex is being built as a meeting place for the residents of the Don Bosco neighbourhood. The strategy contributes to sustainable urban regeneration, the reduction of inequalities and the strengthening of social cohesion in the south-west of Brescia, with a focus on public schools in the area. The total investment exceeds €35 million, obtained through European, ministerial and regional funding, to which other sources must be added.

The two levels of action in the strategy are divided into several operations with the following general objectives:

1. Operations on the school system in the south-western area with the aim of upgrading public education for the 0-14 age group in terms of safety, energy saving, “soft accessibility”, training and social inclusion;
2. Operations under the flagship intervention in the Don Bosco neighbourhood with the aim of creating a new, highly innovative integrated school complex that can become a meeting place for the inhabitants of the Don Bosco neighbourhood and a model for subsequent interventions in other school complexes in the area. At the same time, students attending the new school complex will be able to use all the facilities of the Community Hub, which will help to reinforce the school's innovative nature.
