Mantova - Creating the future: from school to city

Each HUB represents an ecosystem that will experiment with new relationships between neighbourhood realities, inclusive participation, innovation in activities, services offered and processes, good practices in co-design and public-private cooperation. Schools will be redeveloped and adapted to the needs of their communities to become open and inclusive physical spaces which, together with educational, social, cultural and socio-economic initiatives, will be able to regenerate neighbourhoods and local communities.

The objectives of the Strategy are:

• To improve the educational offer by defining a new flexibility of school services.
• To promote knowledge: to redesign the relationship between schools, libraries, museums and informal places of culture in order to encourage the development of new skills.
• To increase opportunities for work-life balance.
• Expand the provision of social and community services
• Regenerate the city's neighbourhoods

The integrated urban regeneration strategy promoted by the Municipality of Mantua starts with schools to encourage the revitalisation of the city's neighbourhoods, turning the school complexes involved into community hubs where families, children and young people can find solutions to the needs of balancing life and work, training and conscious growth. The strategy identifies four neighbourhoods in the city that serve as pilot projects, in which each hub represents an ecosystem for experimenting with new relationships between neighbourhood realities, inclusive participation, innovation in activities, services offered and processes, good practices in co-design and public-private cooperation.
