Monza - An educational community for the future

The project aims to build a widespread educational ecosystem capable of involving the entire neighbourhood through integrated interventions in the fields of education, the environment, mobility and civic participation.

The main objectives are:

• To redevelop school buildings, making them safer, more accessible, sustainable and welcoming, so that they become true centres of change and cultural and social hubs serving the community.
• To promote sustainable mobility by improving connections between the neighbourhood and the rest of the city through the creation of safe cycle and pedestrian paths and education on active mobility for children, young people and families.
• To regenerate and enhance the green heritage through planting, micro-reforestation and participatory care of open spaces to promote environmental well-being, socialisation and a sense of belonging.
• Enhance educational and training opportunities, extending them beyond school hours and beyond the school boundaries, through workshops, courses, extracurricular activities and intergenerational initiatives involving students, families and citizens.
• Stimulate the active participation of citizens, involving students, families, associations and local organisations in co-design, animation and active citizenship initiatives, in order to build a strong, inclusive and lasting educational community together.

The project consists of a series of integrated actions that combine infrastructural and social interventions, with the aim of generating lasting and participatory change in the neighbourhood. Education, understood in a broad sense as a lever for inclusion and urban regeneration, is at the heart of the entire strategy.
