Young people in the city centre: Urban development and regeneration strategies for the historic centre of Cremona

The Municipality of Cremona is developing, through a process of strategic co-planning, the contents of the strategy called Giovani in Centro (Young People in the Centre): Urban development and regeneration strategies for the historic centre of Cremona.

This project involves the following tangible and intangible interventions:

  • Piazza Lodi – Redevelopment and connection of public spaces, new pedestrian paths;
  • Former hospital in Via Radaelli – Redevelopment of existing public buildings;
  • Piazza Giovanni XXIII – Redevelopment and connection of public spaces, new pedestrian paths;
  • Former church of San Francesco – Redevelopment of existing public buildings;
  • A. Campi School, Martini Nursery School and San Francesco Nursery – Redevelopment and energy efficiency improvements;
  • Palazzina Sozzi, associations and Parco Vecchio Passeggio;
  • Former hospital in Via Radaelli – Development of an experimental and innovative social housing service (intangible action);
  • Former hospital in Via Radaelli - Promotion of micro-entrepreneurship programmes to support the independence of young adults and vulnerable individuals (intangible action);
  • Former church of S. Francesco - “Youth Hub”: performance space for youth cultural productions, promotion of leadership and participation;
  • Former church of S. Francesco – Combating early school leaving and promoting employment: the second chance school (intangible action);
  • S. Francesco nursery and Martini nursery school: support for parenting and local services to meet the needs of families (intangible action);
  • 'A. Campi' school - School education service and experimentation with innovative teaching methods (intangible action);
  • Parco Vecchio Passeggio and Palazzina Sozzi - Strengthening social inclusion measures for people with disabilities (intangible action);
  • Project management, monitoring and evaluation, participatory processes, communication (intangible action).
